Assignment

After reading countdown, I was and was not aware of how tough Math could be at a young age but at competition level, it is very cutthroat in a sense that the smartest kids are pitted against each other with a prize at stake. This was honestly my first time hearing about the International Mathematical Olympiad and after reading about it i see why the US is behind on some academics in particularly math. I think one factor as to why Americans were not aware of the Olympiad is because of our current state of affairs today. Due to conflict with other countries, I believe that competing and winning in such competition could be troublesome for the US. Also I think that Americans usually viewed this competition as not important or just like the Spelling Bee, it is enlightening to watch but it is not something that will keep my attention for more than an hour or two. Americans like sports and competitions that are physically exciting to watch and or they like to be entertained and not educated...

I think the reason why we have zoos is because it is to not only harvest the animals in a place that they can be taken care of but also to shelter the wild animals from society. If zoos were not around, then a lot of humans would be seen as food and animals especially the wild ones would proceed to eat us all. I think also the same for aquariums too but also i think they want to personally exploit the sea animals but also show us a particular creature that would be interesting to study by just going to an aquarium rather than just going to an ocean to witness it. For natural history, i think because there is so many misconceptions about what took place back then so they put museums in place to give us essential clues that could make us think "Did this take place back then? or How did this happen?".         These places are for everyone but particularly historians or scientists who have burning desires to answer theories or events that present such questions.
