Assignment

It was a bright and sunny morning but this wasn't an ordinary morning for me. Today was the first day of college at the prestigious McMardigras Academy. This school has produced some of the most famous rappers anyone has ever known as stated in the flyer and I, Eddie McNeddie, get the opportunity to cement my own legacy at the academy. "Eddie, hurry up and get dressed we don't have all day" screamed Dad. Persuading my parents was not an easy task as i recalled the days of hearing the good ole "Be like your cousin Dean and go to college for medicine" and "Music does not pay the bills"and so on and so forth. I literally did everything except bring them a million and one dollars on a velvet pillow to convince them that this is not a useless investment. Throughout the summer, I had a little bit of local fame here in this small city of Orangeade, FL with my hit song, Eddie Draped in Fetti. For my main character(s), I have decided to use The Tiger, The Brahman, and The Jackal to be its inspiration because of the tiger's charm and wit. The quest to outsmart the tiger seems to be like a puzzle. For my story, my jackal will be in the form of a young, and recent graduate who earns the job in which he thought he wanted but comes to a sudden realization that the statement "Be careful what you wish for" is not one that people say just to say it. Not only does he encounter trouble on this wild ride, he brings along his two friends who balance out his personality and often are apart of the reason of his troubles. Besides this, his greatest strengths also acts as his greatest weaknesses (Kind, Outgoing. and Stand-up). My Tiger will be in the form of someone who poses charisma, charm, wit, and has a dark sense of humor. Looking through the options/books to choose from, I found myself being taken aback at how many of these stories have contributed to Mythology and Folklore. The three stories I chose to do reflected my interests along with nostalgia due to my exposure to these stories in my childhood.                        (photo:  Simple Simon )                             Nursery Rhymes-Riddles Growing up, Nursery Rhymes played a significant part in my life. I loved hearing about them and reading them in class because it is clever and witty how they can convey stories just by rhyming words together. I also have come to love riddles because it really makes you think about possible answers to them and when you find out the actual answer, you realize how witty and simple they are. Robin Hood This story in particular struck me as interesting because of how its told in a unique way (Ballads). Also because it showed how cold-blooded Robin is and how he is able to get away with disguising himself

I think some of the strategies listed in the assignment section were helpful. The one i found most effective was the article "How to Beat Procrastination". I am usually a big procrastinator when it comes to assignments that have a due date that wouldn't occur anytime soon so when i started my second year here, i started incorporating better tactics by living by the statement "Work now, Play later". After reading the article, it gave me great ideas especially the one about thinking about how it would feel to be finished with an assignment. I could relate it to having weight lifted off of my shoulders, just like how i feel when i finish writing a paper.       Another tool I could relate to while looking at the article was the use of checklists. Instead of checklists, i started using the reminder app on my phone to remind me of when i should do my assignments. Because of that, I saw my grades improve greatly and my production in a day being shifted into something

After looking over some of the technology tools in the class, i think i have gained a better understanding of what we will be using in the class. I find it very helpful that these tools are at our disposal in case we are unable to find answers to some questions we could have if we are working on an assignment late night. Although i am familiar with some tools of the class such as Blogging, Website publishing, and Bookmarking, i would be interested in learning more about Graphic creation and how to create my own graphics. I have used Canva in the past but was not successful and highly confused about how some stuff worked. Besides that, I am familiar with everything else that was covered in the technology tool overview and will ask questions if i run into any trouble. After doing an overview of assignments for this semester, I am pretty interested for whats in store. I feel like with the structure of the class being blog related, that it will be more easier to share personal insight about how a person can feel about a topic. I also see this as an opportunity to showcase my creative side because i feel like everyone has a creative side but they just express it differently. The storybook/portfolio project should be very fun and i can't wait to get more into it just so i can see how it turns out and hopefully have it posted as an example for future students to see if they enroll in the class.        I have taken a class previously that required the use of this platform, but it was a slightly different curriculum that it was based on. I have not had a class before that offers extra credit assignments in case of if an assignment is missed so i think that is pretty cool that we have that option. After looking through some of the videos of Carol Dweck, I decided to talk about Growth Mindset in my own opinion. To me, Growth Mindset means accepting your own flaws and adopting habits that are healthy to build on your flaws to make yourself become stronger mentally. An example of how i am incorporating growth mindset in my life is when i am applying for jobs. Last year, i was applying for countless internships and jobs and would get rejected from every single company i applied for and that began to affect my self confidence. My friends would keep telling me the typical "You'll get something" statements but it still would not help. It wasn't until I talked to a coworker of mine that he told me these words: "Every No you get always leads you a step closer to a Yes". Hi, My name is Charlton Nwaefulu and I am a senior here at the University of Oklahoma and will be graduating in December. I am from Mansfield, TX and i transferred to this school in the Fall of 2015. I am an Economics major/MIS minor and a cool thing about my major is that it is versatile so i could literally work in a lot of fields without having to attain a specific degree. I didn't really have a favorite class from last semester due to the workload/scheduling but if i had to choose then i would say that a class that i liked the most then it would have to be Economics of Discrimination because it broke down the economics of topics such as marriage and earnings and the costs of getting married and divorce. Witches of Oz I chose this storybook because while reading about it i felt like this was some sort of a spin off from the Wizard of Oz. I like the tone of the story because it depicts witches in a delightful and welcoming manner in particularly Princess Ozma. I feel like if i were to further go into reading the story that i would enjoy the part where they talk about the feast because she is inviting from witches from every direction to her castle to share stories. Also the image in the story depicting Ozma befriending Dorothy shows that Dorothy does not know what kind of evil could possibly lie ahead of her if she were to get involved with Ozma. Bedtime Stories The second storybook i chose dealt with bedtime stories. As a kid, i was not fortunate enough to experience being read a bedtime story before bed so i decided to check out this storybook so that when i grow older and have children of my own i would at least have the chance to read them stories before bed. I later moved to a city closer to it called Mansfield in 2002 but this city alone brings back the nostalgia of my childhood and all that i encountered growing up in Arlington every time i drive through the city.
