Week 7 Story: Tyson's Last Ride

Tina and Titus were fraternal twins who were separated at birth. When their parents divorced, Tina stayed with their mother and Titus stayed with their father until the day they decided to rekindle their marriage and finally let the twins meet each other when they turned four years old. Ever since their meeting, Tina and Titus were inseparable.

Tina and Titus eventually grew up to be spoiled and selfish rich teens who would get anything they wanted by either bribing the person or by simply bothering their parents to send them money while they were away on business trips. While they have a big house to themselves, Tina usually spends time with her beloved pitbull Tyson whom shes had since she was a young girl. Tyson is used to spending so much time with Tina that he starts going haywire whenever she goes to school but that is not the only time that these incidences occur.

Tyson is known to attack guests whenever he is fed steak or chicken and because of these instances, he has to get tied up outside and to never come in until after dinner. Tina understood that if Tyson were to attack anyone under the influence that someone fed him any of the foods then that person will be punished and Tyson will be sent to the Kennel for good. Tina and Titus' parents come back to town and start making arrangements for a client and their family to have dinner at Tina and Titus's house. Titus is put in charge of Tyson because unlike Tina, Titus is much more stern to the dog. As their parents went to go do some shopping, Titus then tried to call the neighbor's son, Milton, to come and watch the dog while he goes to the mall. Milton was reluctant at first because of his fear of dogs but when Titus offered to buy him a pair of Jordans and two pairs of Nike Air Maxes, Milton happily agreed.

Milton showed up after Titus left and was greeted by a menacing bark from Tyson and Tina who rolls her eyes at him due to the fact that he has been infatuated with her since they were in elementary school. Tina then wonders where Titus went off to and Milton later fills her in on his whereabouts. Jealous about how Titus wormed his way out of his responsibilities and tries to get in on the action herself. Tina then decides that she wants to go shopping as well and tells Milton to watch Tyson as well. Milton firmly says No to her plea and reminds her that he is afraid of dogs and leaving him to watch a big dog by himself is not a smart idea. Tina not only promises him the new iPhone X but also a date if he watches Tyson and Milton happily agrees to watching the dog by himself.

After Tina leaves the house, Milton is then standing face to face with a menacing and hungry Tyson. Milton begins to plead with Tyson and that the dog should not attack him.  He throws a rubber ball at him to fetch it and it doesn't work then throws a rubber bone at him. Milton then ran out of toys to give him and once it became apparent to Tyson, Tyson then begins to lunge at Milton. Milton then runs into the kitchen to see if there is anything that could take Tyson's mind off of his legs. Looking at a piece of chicken, Milton grabs it and throws it in the path of the crazed dog and Tyson begins to eat it.

Milton sees Tyson eating as an opportunity to make a break for the door and successfully manages to get out of there. Tyson then begins to go crazy and tears up everything in sight. Titus comes back to the house an hour later to find that the whole house has been turned upside down. Speechless, he then starts to look for Milton while Tina also comes back to find the whole house completely destroyed. worried and distraught, Tina and Titus quickly begin to fix up what is left of the place but it is not before their parents come through the front door with the client and his family behind them. When the family returned home after eating at the client's house, both Tina and Titus got a stern lashing. Titus receives the more harsher punishment of the two due to him being in charge and Tina is told that Tyson must go. Milton then returned to the house and also fessed up to leaving the dog alone when asked if he was aware of Tina and Titus leaving the house. even though he did not get reprimanded as sternly as the two twins,  the twins parents assured him they will see his parents soon.

The next day arrives and Tina is preparing to say goodbye to Tyson. Tina then begins to cry profusely over her best friend being taken to the pound. Titus also begins to cry as Tyson is being put into the cage and carried away by the massive white truck. For once, the twins finally cared about somebody other than themselves.

Author's Note: This story was inspired by the story, The Cock Who Caused a Fight. I decided to tweak the plot to fit the kind of story I envisioned. I made the characters spoiled and selfish in order to fit the plot of shirking responsibilities onto someone else in order to go shopping and that eventually results in their house being destroyed and Tina losing her beloved dog making her and her twin reflect on how their selfish ways can end up being their own worst enemy.

  1. Hey Charlton. I didn't read the original story that this was based off of, so I was a bit confused as to the overall plot even after reading the author's notes. I wished that you showed a bit more emotions or thoughts and feelings from the twins so that we could actually tell if they were spoiled and selfish. I didn't get that vibe from them much, but I did get the rich vibe after you brought in scenes of the twins bribing their friend with really expensive gifts. It was a nice modern twist but a re-read and a few additions would definitely make it stronger!

  2. Hey Charlton! It's so sad that Tyson had to be sent away, what caused him to attack strangers? I wouldn't think that kind of behavior came naturally to him. Maybe he's just super protective of his family. Did Milton still get his gifts for watching the dog, albeit poorly? Or did that go out the window the moment he ran away? Overall, I really enjoyed the story, I can see myself doing those things for the shoes as well!

  3. Hi Charlton! I enjoyed reading your story! I feel bad for Tyson being sent away at the end! I was wondering what made you choose steak and chicken for him to go crazy? I wish you would have revealed more about Titus and Tyson's relationship in the story. I have not read the original tale, but I could definitely see that the kids were spoiled in your version. It is an ironic twist that they had to lose their dog to finally lose their selfish tendencies.
