Reading Notes: Mara Defeat Part B

After reading the stories that were in the Life of Buddha, I decided to choose the story, Mara's Defeat in Part B of the story. The reason why i chose this story is because it talks about how Mara the evil one was tempting Buddha and trying to defeat him. I feel like that story would serve as the basis of my story for the week because in the other stories i read, they weren't what i wanted to capture in my story. I like how the story operates as like a show in which the villain loses to the favored superhero but in this sense, Mara eventually loses to Buddha and has a hard time accepting defeat but comes to terms with it. In my story, I wrote about how there were two students in a high school setting that were in an election to see who would be class president of their school. I had one character act as if they were Mara and the Other character act as if they were Buddha.

Another story i considered using for my story was Siddhartha Becomes Buddha because towards the end of the story, It sounded monumental whenever Siddhartha became Buddha. While reading this Part: "Twelve times the earth shook; the world was like a great flower. The Gods sang: "He has come, he who brings light into the world; he has come, he who protects the world! Long blinded, the eye of the world has opened, and the eye of the world is dazzled by the light."

It gave me goosebumps because it really stressed the importance of when he became Buddha and I wanted to re-create this situation in another form of a story and make the characters similar to the story but also give them traits of the story.
