Reading Notes: Maya's Dream Part A
The story i chose to read this week is called Maya's Dream and after reading the book, I felt like it was a mixture of Saint Blaise and a tad bit of a movie that i watched a long time ago that dealt with mystical creatures. Why i compared the two was because towards the end of the story, Maya described in her dream that she was a healer of the world (whether it was healing the sick or helping the blind have sight again) and the characters in the dream resembled some animals that you would see in fantasy movies such as the Chronicles of Narnia. Being a sucker for a story with imagery, I like how the story began with Maya's dream of an elephant with 6 trunks, it seems perfect for a story where i would take the character of Maya and find a way to use the elephant as some sort of messenger with the messages being under each trunk to determine if whether this dream could be a premonition into something bigger or something that could be tragic.

I would like to make Maya a main character in my story but instead of having her become queen of a mythical land i would establish the setting to be in the present day, maybe in some sort of social setting because i believe that this type of story is perfect for a recreation of it. There is not that much really to work with since it was a short story but i would like to see if i can possibly make one or two characters out of some of the unnamed characters that were in the dream. They would be perfect to revolve the story around so that it can eventually tie together a possible recreation of Maya's Dream.
